How comforting are these words of scripture (Mal 3:6)? We are living in a time when everything seems to be changing and it is really becoming quite challenging. Simple things are becoming frustrating and are thus often left undone as it is too time consuming to have to read thousands of words and instructions just to make a dish or perform a task. I recently bought a new car (probably my last) and oh my word, the manual is just under 500 pages long... it’s insane. By the time I’ve worked out how to work everything, I will probably no longer be driving. I dread getting a new phone, TV, computer, stove, fridge, remote control, and don’t even mention the notification of a computer software update. Asking for God’s wisdom…

Do any of you still remember that comical advert for the Cremora coffee creamer? The one with the man shouting: “It’s not inside, its onnnnnnn top!” From the inside out “Your Christianity is not like a cape that you can take off when it suits you!” were my mother’s wise words to my ten-year-old self when I wanted to repay a school bully in equal measure. My mother’s words still resound in my conscience when my actions are unloving, because her words are so true. Our Christianity comes from within, it is not something we drape over ourselves and take off when it does not suit us. “Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?” (2 Cor 13:5). Indeed, what is renewed inwardly, must of course become…

Leprosy For a brief moment, Moses had leprosy (Ex 4:6-7). Paul & Barnabas Paul and Barnabas went to Lystra, and Paul healed a man who had been crippled from birth. The people believed they were gods, and called Paul “Hermes” and Barnabas “Zeus”. Shortly after this, they stoned Paul until they thought he was dead (Acts 14:8-20). Shave As part of purifying themselves, the Levites had to shave their whole body (Num 8:6-7). The Israelites could not light a fire on the Sabbath (Ex 35:3). Miracle The only miracle of Jesus that is mentioned in all four gospels (Matt, Mark, Luke, & John) is when He fed the 5000. An unnamed prophet said to a man “strike me please”, and the man refused. The prophet said that because he refused,…
Can a believer commit the unpardonable sin Am I worr ing for nothing The “unpardonable sin” is a serious offence that separates someone from God for eternity. In essence, it is rejection of the ministry of the Holy Spirit, who points us to Christ the Saviour (John 16:14). There is no other way of salvation (John 14:6) and those who reject Christ are eternally lost (Heb 6:4-6). Sometimes, even believers say and do things foolishly and in ignorance, but the Lord promises that if we repent and confess our sins, He is willing to forgive us (1 John 1:9). Continued rejection of the convicting power of the Holy Spirit is very dangerous and can harden our hearts to the extent that we no longer listen to His voice (Heb 6:4-6).…
