That’s the Inside Soap Awards done and dusted for another year – and I have to say, I think it might have been our best one yet. We interviewed a record number of stars from seven different shows, photographed many different combinations of actors in our makeshift studio (look out for more of our glamorous shots in the coming weeks), and handed out a whopping 17 trophies – not bad for a couple of hours’ work. Having given April a new job to complete, Ray drives the 16-year-old to a hotel and gives her hard drugs to deliver to his ‘valuable client’ known as Tim. However, it turns out that Ray wants April to do more than just hand over the drugs and head back to the village, as he orders her to have a drink with Tim while she’s there. As Emmerdale pushes ahead with April’s tragic story, it’s not been lost on soap bosses that there are plenty of parallels between April’s experiences and the life that Dawn lived before arriving in the village. With that in mind, actress Olivia Bromley is certain that Dawn would do all she could to protect Marlon’s little girl – if only she knew… “She would just want to scoop her up and tell her to get out of there because she’s lived it!” insists Olivia. “But Dawn lived it in an interesting way, from a perspective of not having a stable family home life. While Kit informs Lisa that her girl has been arrested, Betsy remains confined to a cell feeling confused and tired.
