That’s the Inside Soap Awards done and dusted for another year – and I have to say, I think it might have been our best one yet. We interviewed a record number of stars from seven different shows, photographed many different combinations of actors in our makeshift studio (look out for more of our glamorous shots in the coming weeks), and handed out a whopping 17 trophies – not bad for a couple of hours’ work. Joel’s shocking storyline has become a national talking point, as it highlights the influence of online misogyny on young males, and how their parents’ generation are unaware of the dangers it can lead to. “A lot of people Ross’ age don’t understand these influences that have shaped Joel’s attitudes,” shares Alex. “This element of social media is something Ross doesn’t know much about. He’s not aware that if you watch a stream or a video for a while, the algorithm will flood your feed with similar content, and it can have a massive impact.
